The Arc of the South Shore will officially unveil its first recently renovated residential group home and prototype of this smart home initiative on Broad Street in Weymouth on Thursday, January 26.

Abigail "Abby" Parrilla was appointed CEO of The Arc of the South Shore in August after serving as the organization's chief operations officer. She previously worked at Boston's Children's Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and at PepsiCo. in business development and management. She is also a trained mediator and has served as a motivational speaker. This is her story.

A team of runners from The Arc of the South Shore, a family-oriented, community-based non-profit providing information, referrals, and community programs for individuals with disabilities, raised a grant total of $12,592 at the recently held Asics Falmouth Road Race, exceeding its goal by more than $2,500.

The August 20th event was held in honor of much loved client Kellianne Burke, who passed away last October at the age of 33.

Motorcycle enthusiasts will gather in Lakeville this weekend to pay tribute to former Weymouth resident Kellianne Burke, a 33-year-old woman with Down Syndrome who died last fall. The ride, the first in what organizers say they hope will be an annual event, will benefit the nonprofit Arc of the South Shore.
