Join Alexa Lescinskas and her mother Dianne as they tell their “Transition Story.” They will share what were the programs and services they accessed before the passage at 22, and the role of the family, technology and community.

Alexa recently “aged out” of the Henderson Inclusion School, a Boston Public School that is fully inclusive. Alexa and her classmates were considered “trailblazers,” as they advocated for an inclusive high school and testified at many school committee meetings on the importance of being included academically and socially. They were the part of the first graduating class of the only fully inclusive K-12+ in Boston.

Currently, Alexa is working 3 days per week at TJ MAXX and is supported by her Best Buddies job coach. She works with student mentors at Northeastern University, part of the “You’re With Us” program, 2 days per week; auditing a class and participating in activities with the NU Club field hockey team. Alexa utilizes self-direction through DDS and she and Arianna (her mentor and friend) go to the gym, shop and run errands together. Alexa is also employed at Coleen’s Flower Shop in Dorchester. She has been working at the flower shop on Saturdays for the past 6 years and enjoys organizing the flowers, working on the computer and ordering lunch for all the employees.
