PLAN Impact Story: Meet Josh

PLAN Impact Story: Meet Josh

Josh is 18 years old and recently graduated from high school. He lives in public housing with his mother. Josh was awarded a settlement which was used to fund a PLAN First-Party Special Needs Pooled Trust. Josh’s mother had great difficulty understanding the process of finding replacement services for him, that were previously provided through the school system, and had many questions about other benefits.

Planned Lifetime Assistance Network of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Inc. (PLAN) is unique in that they have ten (10) Licensed Social Workers on staff with extensive experience. Their caring experts help a beneficiary identify day-to-day needs and long-term goals. Social Workers provide a constant assessment and make sure that beneficiaries have access to everything to which they are entitled.

PLAN Social Workers worked with Josh’s mother and provided guidance on the best ways to support him. They helped Josh’s mother apply for DDS services so that he could receive his much-needed ABA therapy. They also worked together to get Josh’s SSDI reinstated.

One of PLAN’s primary focus is to help a beneficiary maintain a comfortable, healthy, and fulfilling life. During a visit with his PLAN Social Worker, Josh expressed that going on a trip to Santa’s Village was a priority item on his “wish list.” Josh’s Social Worker was able to use the funds in his PLAN Special Needs Trust to arrange his trip to Santa’s Village. He told PLAN that the trip was amazing!

We thank PLAN for their continued support of the families and individuals that we serve.
