Around the Office: 20 Pond Park Road, Hingham

Do you ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at The Arc of the South Shore? When not providing direct care to local families and individuals, our team is attending trainings, completing team-building exercises, and having fun together!

Check out what's going on this month at The Arc.

October 2024

Decorating and Costume Contest: In October our administrative offices participated in an office decorating and costume competition. Everyone showed off their creativity with spooky and silly decor and costumes. We celebrated Halloween with a potluck, everyone brought delicious snacks and treats for everyone to enjoy. Our office decorating winners were from our Adult Foster Care department and Program Director, Danielle, was the winner of the costume competition. Great job, AFC!

September 2024

Retirement Breakfast: This month, we honored our Staff Accountant Bob Galvin, who retired after 7 years of service at The Arc, and many more years doing similar work for other local organizations. We gave Bob a proper send off to honor his outstanding work at the Agency. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and an intense game of trivia. Bob competed alone against the entire agency at his true expertise, trivia, and still won! Thank you, Bob, for all of your hard work.

August 2024

Ice Cream Social: This month, our friends at Ice Cream Emergency came back to visit, this time, they went to Early Intervention! Staff members enjoyed a delicious scoop of ice cream from the super cool, mobile ice cream parlor. Thank you to Ice Cream Emergency for visiting our EI team!

July 2024

Summertime Cookout:  Summertime is in full swing at The Arc! Our Community Based Day Services hosted their first annual family fun day cookout. Participants were invited for a cookout as a way for families to meet one another and meet members of staff. Together, families and staff played games and enjoyed socializing with everyone. Participants, their families, and staff enjoyed a fabulous day together.

June 2024

Town Hall Meeting: In June, we had our annual Town Hall Meeting but this year, with a new twist! We held this meeting virtually and recorded it to make it accessible for all staff members. Town Hall Meetings are a great opportunity for all of our staff to get together and hear important organizational updates as well as connect with coworkers.

May 2024

Ice Cream Social: In May, our friends at Ice Cream Emergency paid a visit to our Community Based Day Services location in Weymouth. All staff members and individuals from our Day Programs were invited to enjoy a delicious scoop of ice cream on the hottest day so far this year. Together, we enjoyed the sunny weather, tasty ice cream, and good company.

April 2024

Baby Shower: Showered with love! This month, we hosted a baby shower for mom-to-be Kerin McGue, our Chief Clinical Officer. Kerin is expecting her first boy later this month, and we wish her and her family the very best.

Bowling Night: Rolling in the right direction! This April, all of The Arc staff was invited to Ryan's Amusement for an evening of bowling, delicious food, and refreshments. Not only is bowling a night of fun, this event brings all of our staff together, creates lasting memories, and strengthens our Arc community.

March 2024

World Down Syndrome Day: On March 21, we showed our support for individuals with Down Syndrome by wearing colorful and mismatched socks. We rock our socks on World Down Syndrome Day so when someone asks about them, we can say, "I'm wearing them to raise awareness of Down Syndrome." Show us your socks, and let's start conversations and promote inclusion together!

February 2024

Retirement Lunch: On Thursday, February 29th, we held a celebration lunch for Darlene of the Personal Care Management program, who is retiring from The Arc after an incredible 25 years of service. Darlene has been a key member of the PCM team for a quarter of a century, where she provides compassionate care to those we serve. Thank you, Darlene, and congrats on your retirement!

January 2024

Senior Leadership Empowerment Session: Board member Meghan Steinberg, President of SteinbergHR, led an empowerment session for our senior leadership team. Each staff member took a DiSC personality assessment to understand their communication style and how to best connect with others. There is strength in working together, and this assessment helped us to increase our self-knowledge and facilitate better teamwork. Thank you, Meghan!
