Many parents have voiced that school vacation weeks are extremely challenging, and at times, overwhelming to the entire family. The option of a school vacation program will allow parents and caregivers a vital resource of programming for their child during these difficult weeks of the school year.
The Arc of the South Shore has developed a community-based school vacation program to support individuals and families with ASD during school vacation weeks. All Activities will take place in the community and will focus on the development of social skills and safety training. By having this program in the community, we also hope to promote ASD awareness and understanding while building community bonds.
This April vacation, we are pleased to offer half-day therapy sessions. Each session will be run under the supervision of a BCBA and will be staffed by a behavior specialist, trained special education professionals, licensed therapists and specialized and experienced service providers. Non-therapeutic time will be carefully planned and highly structured to ensure a fun and successful learning experience for your child.
During music therapy, students will enjoy making music with others by singing and playing instruments and games. The occupational therapy and sensory class, will provide each child the opportunity to build skills through play utilizing fine motor, sensory motor and visual/perceptual skills. Within the special needs yoga group, each student will work on attention, self-regulation, speech and language, motor planning and physical fitness! All therapies are modified to suit all individual, unique needs and are designed to ensure success and well-being for all!
