The Arc of the South Shore offers a broad range of educational family workshops and informational sessions. These workshops and seminars empower families with information and help them network with community resources. Led by experts in their field, parents, caretakes and professional will have opportunities throughout the year to explore topics such as finanical planning, guardianship, transition training, DDS eligibility social serucity, ALEC and more.
This workshop will provide relationship and sexuality training for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The workshop is comprised of 21 sessions and a new session will begin in the Fall of 2020. The goal of these workshops is to help empower individuals to take control of their own lives, decision making, problem-solving, and to speak up for themselves in all areas of their lives, including relationships and sexuality.
Facilitated by Kerin McGue, M.Ed., BCBA, Sexual Educator for I/DD. Kerin was trained in sexual education for I/DD (including AD) by Katherine McLaughlin and has attended various Department of Developmental Services (DDS) offered trainings facilitated by Pata CArney and Abuse/Neglect training through Disabled Person Protection Commission (DPPC) and DPPC's Sexual Assault and Response Unit (SARU). Kerin continues to dedicate time to further develop her knowledge by taking continuing education units related to sexuality, sexual abuse, prevention of abuse of individuals with disabilities and sexual behavior.

Janine has worked with Kerin since 2016 in the Autism Resource Center. She haws co-facilitated this group since 2019. Janine has a son diagnosed with ASD who has attended and benefitted from the course. She is available for co-teaching, additional assistance to individuals who require time to talk during the class session, and documentation as needed. She continues to further her education in behavioral science, relationships and sexulaity and various other improtant topics through on the job training and continuing education trainings.
Erik has been a special educator for over 8 years. He has experience working with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including ASD. He has experience in ABA, PBS and behavioral de-escalation.
